Effective polyurethane flushing compound without dangerous solvents

Methylene Chloride has been used as a polyurethane (PU) flushing agent for many years.  It is tried, tested and proven........but it is also very dangerous and responsible companies are now looking for alternatives to Methylene Chloride (DCM)

EN720 is a NON-Hazardous Solvent Free Polyurethane Flushing Compound that clears wet or uncured Polyurethane residue from machines without using dangerous solvents.

Since Methylene Chloride was outlawed as a cleaning agent, the Polyurethane processing industry has been searching for a viable alternative.

EN720 offers the powerful cleaning ability of Methylene Chloride without the extreme hazards.


EN720 Solvent Free Polyurethane Flushing Compound is formulated to break down and retard the curing process of Polyurethane, to prevent it from sticking to pipes and eqipment and making it easy to flush after pouring.

The compound will break dissolve the bonds of the wet PU, keep it liquid and retarding curing maing it east to clean away.

EN720 can be used in two ways.


Flushing Agent for Polyurethane (PU) machines

Replaces DCM/Methylene Chloride as a flushing agent, EN720 is pumped through low pressure mixer heads and pipes, stopping PU curing and ensuring pipes clean after flushing.

Suitable for PU rigid and flexible Foam, PU elastomers and other PU based materials such as adhesives.

Our product is Non Hazardous under CLP and can be re-cycled/re-used to reduce cost in use and users often say it is cost negative or slight premium compared to DCM/Methylene Chloride.


Cleaning Agent for Wet/UNcured PU

Can be used to clean tools and other surfaces coated with uncured/wet.  As classified as Non-Hazardous under CLP users are not put at risk when using EN720.



One of the key features EN720 Solvent Free Polyurethane Flushing Compound is its stable composition this means it will not evaporate allowing it to sit and soak around machinery components breaking down the excess PU. This differs from traditional solutions which need to be constantly pumped through the system resulting in a much greater quantity of cleaner being required.  In comparison, a traditional clearer like Dichloromethane will need to be pumped through a machine for around 3-4 times longer than EN720 using 4 times as much cleaning compound. The biggest advantage of using EN720 over tradition solvent based Polyurethane cleaners is it presents a much lower hazard.  EN720 Solvent Free Polyurethane Flushing Compound is very low hazard reducing many of the dangers and related costs of storage and use. It is also environmentally friendly reducing issues around disposal.

Please note if the Polyurethane has cured we would advise using one of the other great products from the Bio8 Polyurethane range: 

EN705 Solvent Free Polyurethane Residue Remover – Ideal for removable items that can be detached and soaked to remove cured Polyurethane residue (Only aluminium and stainless steel.)

EN706 Solvent Free Polyurethane Residue Remover Gel – Ideal for items or surfaces that need to be cleared of Polyurethane residue but cannot be soaked. (Only aluminium and stainless steel.)

EN710 Anti-Rust Polyurethane Remover Liquid – Ideal for items and surfaces made from metals that can be easily corroded. (Iron, Copper, Zinc and some Alloys)

  • Always use NEAT.
  • For most effective use, immediately filter after flushing completed and recycle.
  • DO NOT STORE FLUSHED MATERIAL IN HOLDING TANK BEFORE REUSE.
  • Recommended that existing pure Viton seals replaced with PTFE encapsulated Viton seals for best results EPDM or Santoprene tubing recommended.
  • Avoid extended contact with Viton, silicone, norprene or PVC.
